"Forgo your anger for a moment and save yourself a hundred days of trouble."
— Chinese proverb
Wow. This one screamed at me today. Yesterday I was just, to be blunt, pissed off most of the day for no specific reason. I have had days where I am angry and there seems to be no specific reason for it but yesterday I really wanted to rip someone's face off. Ask my friends, I must have said that about 18 times yesterday. It was almost like a craving. I didn't think I was going to make it through the day without actually ripping someone's face off.
I don't know what triggered it but at some point I realized I wasn't angry anymore. (And this was before I had the margaritas so I know it wasn't that.) And I have to tell you, it felt really good. I felt relieved. I wonder if I had to feel the anger in order to realize just how good it felt not to be angry. Would I even have noticed that feeling of relief had I not been angry earlier in the day?
Let's hope I get that trouble free hundred days now.

What it's all about...
This is my first journey into the blogging world. I have been reading the blogs of a few friends of mine and enjoyed it. That lead me to thinking about starting my own.
It's not easy trying to come up with something interesting people would actually read so I just decided to do it for me. If people like it, great. If they don't, great.
I have been collecting quotes from different sources lately. I didn't know why I was saving them. I would think, "Hey, that's pretty profound/funny/thought-provoking" and I'd save it and then forget about it. My blog is born from that. To put the quotes to work, I plan to cite them and then blog about how it relates to my life at any given time. Please feel free to add your own comments.
I hope you enjoy it.

The Life We've Planned
We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
— Joseph Campbell
This sums up one of my biggest issues in going through the aftermath of my divorce. I have spent far too much time thinking about all the things I might have had and getting upset that I won't have them. How crazy is it to be upset that I don't have or won't have something I never had to begin with? If I let go of my wish to have a 25th wedding anniversary or to see my grandchildren for the first time with their grandfather, I just might find a whole new life for myself far more intriguing than the one I imagined I would have. I am aggrandizing my 18 year marriage as something that is desirable and that I cannot live without. The truth is I am starting to feel free. I am learning who I am and I am able to do as I please. I don't have to live trying to please someone else. It is my turn. I hope this quote pushes me to open up and try new things and explore my options. I have an interest in film making and photography. It may not make me rich but it might lead me to places, people and things I never would have seen had I been stuck in my old life. I wonder what is waiting out there for me.
